Electrical Design Engineer

As a Electrical Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of technological advancements, working alongside our senior engineering staff to bring groundbreaking ideas to life.

Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, conducting thorough research, and employing your creative problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions. You will have the chance to apply your technical expertise and attention to detail in every aspect of the design process, from conceptualization to prototyping and testing

Evoy designs, develop and deliver world-leading powerful electric motor systems for boats in the commercial and leisure market, with a team of 45 professionals.  Our leading technology and high-performance product continue to reinforce and build a strong identity and brand that has a significant appeal in the international market.

The position will report to VP Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive Innovation and Sustainable Development: Contribute to the development of new technologies and solutions that push the boundaries of electrical engineering, ensuring sustainability.
  • Enhance System Design and Efficiency: Improve system design using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and advanced tools to optimize electrical systems and components.
  • CAD-Based Design: Use CAD software to create precise wiring diagrams and cable harnesses, designing robust and reliable electrical systems.
  • Engage in Supplier and Customer Meetings: Participate actively in meetings to understand specifications, discuss design considerations, and align with stakeholder expectations
  • Equipment Testing and Troubleshooting: Test electrical equipment, components, and systems to ensure functionality and compliance with industry standards. Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during testing.
  • Communication with Manufacturers and Suppliers: Maintain effective communication with manufacturers and suppliers, providing technical guidance and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality components.
  • Component Specification and Selection: Analyze requirements and communicate comprehensive component specifications. Evaluate and select electrical components based on factors such as performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing and Manufacturing: Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing teams, sharing expertise and ensuring seamless integration of electrical designs into the manufacturing process.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Relevant Experience: Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position, showcasing a strong foundation in electrical design, development, and testing.
  • Strong Technical Knowledge: Possess a deep understanding of fundamental mechanical, electrical, and electronic concepts. .
  • Mechanical/Fixtures Build Familiarity: Familiarity with mechanical assembly and integration of electrical components.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Experience conducting mechanical and electrical tests and implementing corrective measures.
  • Electrical Test Equipment: Working knowledge of electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators is desirable.
  • Software and Programming Understanding: Foundational understanding of software and programming basics.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use new testing equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD Experience
  • REVIT Experience
  • Electrical power system modeling experience
  • Experience with facility power, lighting and signal systems
  • Experience with low and medium voltage distribution design
