Senior Mechanical Engineer

In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your extensive knowledge to design and validate mechanical components and systems. Your experience with drivetrain transmission and gears will enable you to tackle complex challenges and ensure the highest levels of performance, reliability, and efficiency in our diverse range of products.

Your role as a Senior Mechanical Engineer will involve optimizing mechanical systems across various applications, driving efficiency, enhancing structural integrity, and seamlessly integrating them into larger assemblies. Drawing upon your expertise in drivetrain transmission and gears, you will contribute to the advancement of mechanical engineering in our organization. Evoy designs, develop and deliver world-leading powerful electric motor systems for boats in the commercial and leisure market, with a team of 45 professionals.  Our leading technology and high-performance product continue to reinforce and build a strong identity and brand that has a significant appeal in the international market.

The position will report to VP Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualizing, Designing, and Developing Mechanical Components and Systems: Utilize your expertise to conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical components, systems, and products. Employ innovative thinking to create efficient and reliable solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Research and Analysis for Product Design: Conduct research and analysis to identify new ideas, materials, and technologies relevant to product design. Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements to enhance the performance and competitiveness of our products.
  • Creation of Detailed Mechanical Drawings and Specifications: Utilize CAD software and other design tools to create detailed mechanical drawings and specifications. Ensure accuracy, adherence to design standards, and compatibility with manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to develop integrated systems. Foster open communication and teamwork to achieve project goals.
  • Testing and Validation of Designs: Test and validate designs to ensure they meet technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Utilize analytical tools and methods to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous enhancement.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Proactively troubleshoot and resolve design issues that arise during development and testing phases. Conduct root cause analysis to identify underlying problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Technical Guidance and Support to Manufacturing Teams: Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing teams during the production process. Collaborate closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure efficient and high-quality production, addressing any technical challenges that may arise.
  • Compliance with Standards and Regulations: Ensure compliance in close collaboration with our compliance team in terms of industry standards, as well as relevant regulations governing mechanical design. Stay informed about evolving standards and regulatory requirements to ensure our products meet the necessary criteria.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Possess a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, with specialization in powertrain systems. A degree in a related field with a strong focus on powertrains will also be considered.
  • Extensive Powertrain and Electrical Propulsion Experience: Demonstrate extensive experience and expertise in powertrains and electrical propulsion systems. Your in-depth knowledge of these areas will be critical in developing advanced solutions.
  • Project Management and Organizational Skills: Exhibit excellent project management skills, showcasing your ability to effectively plan, organize, and execute complex engineering projects. Your skills in managing timelines, resources, and teams will contribute to successful project outcomes.
  • Proficient English Communication: Display excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. The ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and collaborate with colleagues is essential. Norwegian language skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Frequency Converters and Motor Drive Systems: Possess knowledge and understanding of frequency converters and motor drive systems. Familiarity with their principles, operation, and integration will be beneficial in developing efficient powertrain solutions
  • Insight into Low-Voltage Distribution Systems: Demonstrate an understanding of low-voltage distribution systems. Knowledge of their design, components, and safety considerations will be valuable in optimizing powertrain performance.
  • Familiarity with Chargers and Combined Charging Systems: Have a working knowledge of chargers and combined charging systems. Understanding their functionalities, compatibility, and standards will support the development of electric powertrain solutions.
  • Ability to Deliver High-Quality Documentation: Showcase the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation. Clear and concise documentation is crucial for effective communication, knowledge sharing, and compliance with standards and regulations
